Bangladesh: Volunteer - Doctors needed in, Bangladesh (M.D, D.O, P.A)

Seeking volunteer medical doctors to support the Rohingya crisis in Bangladesh.

Medical Teams International responds to disasters where the needs are urgent, where we have access, and where our resources can bring healing where there is no other option. Working in collaboration with our Integral Alliance partners on the ground, Medical Teams International is sending volunteer medical staff, mainly doctors and nurses, to serve in the Kutupalong settlement area. Our goal is to reach 100,000 Rohingya refugees with essential health care and hygiene services. Activities include helping to prevent the outbreak of infectious disease through community outreach activities connected to a temporary Diarrhea Treatment Unit, serving as a vital link between the critically ill and their access to emergency care–referring patients with urgent needs to nearby healthcare facilities and providing direct medical services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Provide emergency care for affected population according to internationally accepted standards.

· Oversee and manage triage.

· Examine, diagnose and treat patients in the out patient clinic according to the guidelines and available protocols.

· Conduct daily rounds of non-surgical patients and plan discharges.

· Utilize and improve on standardized data collection tools and train staff on accurate data collection.

· Collect and analyze emergency services data to adjust project objectives and implementation processes.

· Assess training needs and institute hiring/training of necessary staff and community healthcare workers.

· Work with Medical Director and Team Leader to implement standardized internal reporting

· Work with logistics and pharmacy to ensure regular and adequate drug and surgical supplies in order to avoid stock-outs.

· Collaborate with recognized health authorities, health agencies, donors and other stakeholders to utilize standardized reporting practices and information sharing.

· Actively participate in coordination meetings and other relevant meetings.

· Conduct initial needs assessments and determine areas of assistance.

· Monitor and coordinate emergency program activities assigned for the project.

· Identify prevalent epidemic diseases in urban or camp settings and set up appropriate strategies to be implemented in case of epidemics and other health needs.

· Act upon suspected or confirmed communicable diseases according to the protocols and inform the Medical director.

· Anticipate changing needs and emergencies.

Experience:

· Minimum medical degree M.D, D.O, P.A

***Master’s in Public Health an advantage.

· Minimum of 1 years of experience required, or equivalent combination of education and experience of which 1-2 years should be of developing country experience or resource deprived environment.

· Experience in overseas programs relating to primary health care, maternal and child health, reproductive health, HIV/AIDS, and communicable diseases on advantage.

· Must be able to deploy to emergencies on short notice.

· Previous NGO experience an advantage.

· Will have excellent communications skills, both oral and written.

· Will have excellent self-motivation skills.

· Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions independently.

· Extremely flexible, and have the ability to cope with stressful situations and frustrations.

· Ability to relate to and motivate local staff effectively.

· Creativity and the ability to work with limited resources.
